Life Steps is a preventative program funded by New York City Child Serviceswhich provides counseling and leadership development for at-risk families, children and adolescents.
Masters level social workers/counselors address psycho-social concerns such as:
family and peer relationships
chronic illness
bereavement
alcohol and substance abuse
teen pregnancy
domestic violence
transition to work-as well ashelp with entitlements
Our group programs provide psychiatric and psychological consultations for teens. We also help parents build communication and parenting skills and provide support groups.
Past and current groups include:
Creative Arts/Newsletter - cultivates self-expression and improves communication
Independent Living/World of Work - addresses the transition from adolescence to adulthood
Parent-Teen Communication - locates the strains and eases the stresses that exist between adolescents and their caretakers
Boys/Girls - highlights awareness of sexuality and gender roles and how these shape adolescent behavior and relationships
