Life Steps
Life Steps is a preventative program funded by New York City Child Services which provides counseling and leadership development for at-risk families, children and adolescents.

Masters level social workers/counselors address psycho-social concerns such as:

  • family and peer relationships
  • chronic illness
  • bereavement
  • alcohol and substance abuse
  • teen pregnancy
  • domestic violence
  • transition to work-as well ashelp with entitlements

Our group programs provide psychiatric and psychological consultations for teens. We also help parents build communication and parenting skills and provide support groups.

Past and current groups include:

  • Creative Arts/Newsletter - cultivates self-expression and improves communication
  • Independent Living/World of Work - addresses the transition from adolescence to adulthood
  • Parent-Teen Communication - locates the strains and eases the stresses that exist between adolescents and their caretakers
  • Boys/Girls - highlights awareness of sexuality and gender roles and how these shape adolescent behavior and relationships
