Trip to the Brooklyn Museum |
|
Partnership with Children took fifteen high school students from our United way-funded extended learning day program to visit the Norman Rockwell exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum this February. The trip was offered as an incentive to those students who attended the required number of extended day arts program sessions from September-December. During the extended day program the students work on drawing and painting projects in which they recreate historic works by well known artists such as Michelangelo and Norman Rockwell, using contemporary figures of people in their lives. Partnership with Children interweaves social/emotional learning into the extended day program by facilitating conversations about students feelings and thoughts in the context of learning about and creating art. |
