2008 marked the third year that Camp Robin Hood, a week-long program in which teenagers learn about philanthropy and service, visited Partnership with Children’s PS 3 in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Each year Robin Hood campers visit the school and participate in an activity called “The Bookstore Summit". Students and campers paired up in one-on-one teams, shared lunch, did a getting-to-know-you activity, and then worked on strategies to improve the PS 3 student-run bookstore for the coming school year. Together the Robin Hood campers and students discussed the challenges of running the book store, including increasing the store’s customer base and making items more affordable for all students. Finally the pairs presented their suggestions for future improvements with the whole the group, and then held a closing ceremony.
