Partnership with Children Supporters
Spring into Jazz at Our Annual Gala Celebration

On May 11, 2005 Partnership with Children hosted its annual Gala
Celebration at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, celebrating our
five-year collaboration with PS 46 in Fort Greene, Brooklyn and
its principal Carmen Gonzalez.
Cocktails overlooked the Hudson and the silent auction included
unique and wonderful offerings. The evening's program began with
the PS 46 student jazz band and a fifth grade chanteuse sang an
age appropriate version of Ray Charles' "Mess Around." Carol Anne
Riddell, NBC4 Education Reporter, was the evening's host.
A PS 46 fifth grader spoke about his positive experiences as a
member of the Open Heart - Open Mind Peer Mediation small counseling
group. Executive Director Michelle Sidrane presented the Partnership
with Children Award for Leadership to PS 46 Principal Carmen Gonzalez,
and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz declared May 11th
Partnership with Children Day in Brooklyn.
Christie's auctioneer George McNeely conducted a lively auction,
which included luxury trips, fine wine and original art. The final
auction lot was the live auction's stunning hit. Guests were offered
sponsorships of Partnership with Children's school newspaper groups,
and took "sponsorships" at the $5000, $2500 and $1000 levels, raising
$47,000 to support this important part of our school-based program.
The evening raised over $350,000 to support Partnership with Children's
mission. The evening culminated with a top-notch performance by
Sherrie Maricle and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra. Partnership with Children
is grateful to all those who made this year's annual gala a great
success! We look forward to next year's Gala, and your ongoing support.
