A TASTE OF THE GOOD LIFE RAISES OVER $140,000 FOR PARTNERSHIP WITH CHILDREN

The evening of September 25th saw over 300 of New York City’s most discerning wine lovers and foodies savoring the products of twelve vineyards from around the world and some of New York City’s finest restaurateurs at A Taste of the Good Life, a fundraiser for Partnership with Children.
Executive Chefs from top New York City restaurants including Eleven Madison Park, Gild and Fleur de Sol served exquisite hors d’ourves including cappuccino of sea urchin with peekytoe crab, yellow fin tuna roll with crispy nori, and salted cod wrap with lemon confit. John Wincroft, purveyor of smoked fish, caviar and fresh seafood served a delicious selection of Irish, Scottish and Nova smoked salmon. For dessert, Brooklyn bakery One Girl Cookies delighted the crowd with their assortment of mini whoopee pies and tea cookies.
Daniel Poser of Grapes, The Wine Company generously arranged for wines from California, Australia, Italy and France to be available for tasting and for sale. Veritas Wine Director, Tim Kopec, served as the sommelier for the evening, lending his expert opinion on wine and food pairings.
A highlight of the event was a silent auction featuring prizes including an autographed copy of the French Laundry Cookbook, signed by Chef Thomas Keller, dinner for four at the James Beard House, and a case of 1981 Mounton Rothschild Bordeaux.
Midway through the evening, Partnership with Children president, Thong Nguyen, and board member, Elizabeth Peek, announced the launch of the organization’s Centennial Fund campaign, celebrating 100 years of opening hearts and inspiring minds. To commemorate, the agency is working hard to raise $3 million so that it can ensure the future of thousands of children during the next 100 years.
In total, $140,000 was raised for Partnership with Children from ticket sales, the silent auction and a percentage of the wine sales – a very good start to the 100th year celebration, indeed.
