2010-2011 Evaluation Results

Each year, we monitor our success by commissioning a report that reflects the outcomes of our Open-Heart Open-Mind Program. This year our report changed to focus on the actual work we do in the schools: social, emotional and behavior transformation, systemic school climate improvement and parent engagement.

  • 60% decline in student off task behavior
  • 153% increase in positive teacher-to-student verbal interaction
  • 99% decrease in negative teacher-to-student interaction
  • 147% increase in positive peer to peer verbal interaction
  • 75% decrease in negative peer to peer verbal interaction

Parent Engagement

  • 98% increase in parents feeling they have someone at the school to talk with about their child
  • 22% increase in elementary school and 60% increase in middle school parents feeling they can talk to other parents about school concerns.

Positive School Climate

  • 53% reduction in classroom arguments and fighting, increasing classroom learning time.
  • 35% decline in discipline referrals, increasing the time principals can spend on education.
  • 88% of administrators report the school is safer and a more effective learning environment as a result of Partnership with Children.

Attendance Improvement

Those students in the lowest quartile of attendance who had the poorest attendance last year, made the greatest improvement:

  • Middle school students increase by 6.2%
  • High school students increased by 5.4%
  • Elementary students increased by 4.4%
